Fourth of July Festivities

We are recovering from our low-key Fourth of July celebration (who knew doing very little could still make us so tired!).  It was unusual holiday for us this year because we weren't at the lake for the first time in what seems like forever.  I think the last Fourth that I spent away from the lake was in college and before that, well...I'm not sure my memory goes back that far.

We spent the morning having breakfast with Brandon's parents and his sister's family.  We intended to drive up to Newton, but all of the breakfast spots there were closed so we ended up at Cracker Barrel.  It has been a long time since I've eaten at Cracker Barrel.  Actually, the last time I probably ate there was my freshman year in college in ol' Shawnee, Oklahoma with my bff Megan.  Anyways, we had a great time and both babies were very well behaved.

Speaking of the babies, we got them all dressed up on Sunday evening to take a few festive pictures.  Aren't they just adorable?!?!

After breakfast, we went over to my aunt and uncle's house to hang out for a little bit and to take a peek at their new kitchen.  While we were there, Mason had his first diaper blow-out while my cousin was holding him.  It required an immediate plunge in their bath tub and he went shirtless for the rest of our visit.  I suppose there is a first time for everything!

We spent the afternoon lounging around the house, trying to sneak in a quick nap, and preparing for our bbq with our neighbors.  On the menu: Grilled Chicken, Brats, corn dip, pasta salad, fruit salad and my American flag fruit pizza.

After dinner, we headed outside to watch the guys light a few fireworks.  Mason enjoyed the show from his bouncy seat while our little neighbor girl played with him.  Needless to say, neither one were too interested in the show.

When our personal show ended we moved our chairs to our driveway and watched what all of the neighbors were doing.  I'm pretty sure the fireworks in the area continued on most of the night, but we finally turned in around 9:30 or 10:00 since we all had to work today.
