Sometimes, I get the urge to clean and organize and today was one of those days. I had let our closet get out of control. My shoes were tossed all over the floor, I had purses and jeans and sweatshirst stuffed in the shelves, clothing was falling off hangers and it was just a horrid site. I wish I had taken a picture for all of you to see, but I'm afraid I would be VERY embarrassed (it's embarrassing enough for me to even blog about this). So, I sucked it up and began to weed through my clothes, shoes and purses. I found clothes I hadn't worn in at least two years, a purse that had a check book from college and plenty of shoes that had seen their prime. I ended up with two 18-gallon totes of clothes to give away or sell in a garage sale and a trash bag full of shoes and purses. It feels good to be able to look into the closet and actually see what I have! See for yourself:
This is the shelving in our closet. It was stuffed full of stuff. And, you see how all of those shoes down there are sitting nicely in their spot, they all used to be scattered all over the floor :(
And, since I was on such a kick, I moved down to the storage room. Before I began, there wasn't much walking space, but I did a lot of condensing and some tossing and now it is managable again. There is still a lot of work to be done down there, but we need to buy something to store our china in before I can do the real work. A larger kitchen would also help, but that is obviously not an option (most of the stuff in the storage room is kitchen stuff that doesn't fit in my kitchen).
Needless to say, I feel rather productive today!
