World Rat Day

Today, my friends, is World Rat Day - sick!!! I hate rats and mice with my inner most being. Hate them! But, in honor of today, I will recall my most disgusting and frightful encounters with rats...

One fine day, I was working at good ol' Kistner's Flowers. For some reason, I was the only one at the shop at the time - Brandon was out on delivery and I'm not sure where our boss was. As I was happily arranging beautiful flowers, I look over in the corner and see this plant stake, which was sitting on floor, bouncing up and down. I was curious, but didn't think too much of it. Then, it continued to bounce. By this time, I was quite fearful! I was just certain it was a mouse or snake or something (On a side note: Kistner's Flowers was not the most well-kept or clean shop - I guess you could say it was "cluttered"). So, I immediately jump up on our table and call Brandon, hoping he was on his way back so he could get rid of this "problem". Well, little did I know what was about to unfold at our dear little shop.

When Brandon arrived back at the shop, after what seemed like FOREVER, he found a shovel and started hunting for the rodent or whatever it was. I pointed to the plant stake that had been bouncing all over (I was still on the table at this point), so he crept over and found some creepy eyes staring back at him. This was not a little mouse we were dealing with, this was a HUGE rat!!! Somehow, Brandon managed to chase him somewhere and I pretty much decided it was time for me to go home. I can't recall all of the details at this moment, but I'm sure our boss was back and told me to leave. I don't think I would have just left. Well, one rat turned into several and they were literally running around our shop, just like they were pets or something. Our boss put out boxes of deacon, but that didn't seem to stop them. Sixteen boxes later, the rats were gone, but we started smelling something foul! I mean, this was unlike any smell I have EVER smelled in my life. Eventually, something started soaking through a ceiling tile. My boss thought it was water from the spring rains and it was molding, hence the smell. Her husband got up there and found them - DEAD RATS!!! Thats right, we had dead rats in our ceiling and they were decomposing. I wanted to throw up! So, my boss cleaned everything up and all was well, but I will NEVER EVER EVER forget this in my entire life!!!!

In other, not so disgusting news, we're headed to GC this weekend! We have a lot on our schedule - the main purpose for the trip is to attend Ashley's (Brandon's sister) wedding shower, which should be fun! We are also going to pick out new laminate and tile for our kitchen and bathroom countertops and backsplashes - thank you government money, visiting family, eating at El Zarape - my fav Mexican restaurant, and bringing home a treadmill! Brandon and his dad have to fix the said treadmill first, but I must admit, I'm really excited to have this! I'm not much of an exerciser, especially when I have to go somewhere else to do it, but I'm hoping this will be a little motivational since it will be in our basement. Plus, I'll get to catch up on all of my recorded TV shows every morning!

Have a super weekend!

P.S. I thought about putting up an ugly picture of rat to help drive home this post, but honestly, I got wigged out just looking at the pictures. I'm not sure I could handle having it in the blog!!!!
