I've noticed lately, that my life has become one big routine. I get up every morning at 6:31 (After hitting the snooze button), I jump in the shower and I'm out and drying my hair by 6:45. I finish drying my hair just in time for the opening comments of "Good Morning America". Then, I put on my makeup, flat iron my hair and I'm making the bed by the time the first local news update comes on at 7:25. Then, I get dressed, make breakfast, gather my lunch and purse, give Koby a treat and I'm out the door by 8:00.
I have another routine once I get to work. I go over my list (made at the end of the previous day) and I shuffle through any job jackets that landed on my desk after I left the day before. Then, I gather the job jackets that need to be delivered to the various AE's, grab my water glass and make my rounds. Then, I come back to my desk and answer any emails that are waiting for me and make any necessary phone calls. After that is when my life gets boring and my routine gets stale. I check my personal email, I read the newspaper online, visit my favorite blogs and then I sit, racking my brain of things I can search for on the internet (if you have any great suggestions of cool websites, PLEASE let me know!), making lists of all kinds (grocery and "to do's" are among the most popular) and then I sit some more. I might do a few work related tasks during this time, if we're busy that day. Then, 12:15 rolls around and I take my 30 minute lunch break. During that time, I search People and E!. I also check Facebook to find out what all of my friends are up to. Then, I do a little more pointless searching. Towards the end of the day, I will look at my job list and figure out what needs to be done the next day, make my list and I leave the office at 5:00.
My evening drive takes me approximately 25 minutes, so I'm usually home by 5:30. Koby greets me with jumps and squeals at the back door, Brandon is usually watching TV or sifting through the mail. I check the mail, chat with him and change my clothes. Then, I'll start dinner, we'll either watch Scrubs or E! News . Then we sit down together and have dinner. This is followed by a little chit chatting at the table, while Koby begs to sit in my lap. Then we clean up the kitchen and settle in for the evening. Since the writer's strike has been going on, our evening TV is lacking. So, Brandon makes up for it by watching dumb movies, while I fall asleep, or we watch The Office or any other show that might interest us. Then, we gather up the dog and his bed and make our way to bed.
And then it all starts again.....
The point of this post is that while I must enjoy routine, I feel sort of trapped by it. However, if my morning routine is altered, it seems to throw my whole day off!! So, I guess it is a lose/lose situation. Does anyone have any good suggestions of how to escape a routine, but still keep order in your day??
